Pre Game Rituals
I have been playing Inline Hockey for nearly 8 years now and its my passion. I cannot compare the sport with anything. I love that its a Tough Physical sport along with serious skill and co-ordination , teamwork, the high and lows that comes along but mostly energy and focus spawned from the game. I have been honoured to represent New Zealand at the AAU Junior Olympics (4th) and the AAU FIRS World Cup (3rd) through a lot of training and commitment to the sport helped me achieve this and realise every game is another chance to be better and prove yourself. a lot of this is determined on the preparation. although a strange occurrence in the sport of Ice and Inline Hockey is that before the game rituals are taken and have become a huge part of Hockey and most players have these crazy superstitions before games that if not fulfilled will lead to a bad game. I have a ritual were i have to have a hot shower before the game to loosen up and then i sit and think inside my head; despite the loud banter and chatting in the team's changing room. I think about what i will do and what i will accomplish each game. I also have a bracelet that i have had since i was a child which i got in france, it was made as a good luck charm and i have used it ever since; i wear it during every game or else tie it to my helmet, before every game i will go through my process and sit in my head thinking of how i will positively effect the game.
